Installation options

Installation is possible as a surface-mounted appliance with a visible edge or as a flush-mounted appliance. The appliance can be snapped into the worktop from above. When combining several Vario appliances of the 400 series, a connection strip VA 420 must be placed between the appliances and the corresponding connection strip must be provided depending on the type of installation.

Depending on the installation type (surface-mounted or flush-mounted, with or without an appliance cover), the specific location of the cut-out and the knob positions may vary. If installing several appliances in individual cut-outs, allow for a division bar of minimum 50 mm between the individual cut-outs.

Worktop requirements

For flush installation, worktops may be made of stone, synthetics or solid wood. Heat resistance and watertight sealing of the cut edges must be observed. For other materials, the worktop manufacturer should be consulted. The groove must be continuous and even to ensure uniform placing of the appliance on the gasket. Discontinuous lining should not be used, and the joint width may vary due to size tolerances of the combinations and of the worktop cut-out.

The bearing capacity and stability, particularly for thin worktops, must be supported using suitable substructures, taking into account the appliance weight and additional loads. A minimum lateral clearance of at least 40 mm from adjacent heat-sensitive furniture or contact surfaces must be observed or thermal insulation fitted.

Operation and functions

The appliance is operated via control knobs with an illuminated ring, along with cooking zone and temperature markings. Electronic temperature control allows adjustment from 120 °C to 240 °C. Two cooking zones, each 1500 W, can be used either together as a complete surface or each half separately. A keeping warm setting and a cleaning stage are available for added convenience.

Cleaning

Even with traces of use, the hard-chromed cooking surface is always easy to clean like a cast pan, supported by the dedicated cleaning stage.

Safety

Safety is supported by a safety shut-off and both pre-heat and residual heat indicators, providing clear information on heating status and remaining heat.
