Installation space and recess requirements
The appliance is designed for flush installation in units with a depth of 635 mm using stainless steel or customer-specific door panels. The depth of the appliance is 610 mm, allowing installation in standard European fitted units of 610 mm depth and in deeper 635 mm cut-outs. Recess dimensions for this model are 213.4 cm (H) x 91.4 cm (W) x 63.5 cm (D).
The floor must be capable of bearing the weight of the appliance plus food (approximate range for Monolith models from a minimum of 218 kg to a maximum of 544 kg of food, depending on net capacity). The floor should be level and ventilation openings must remain clear. Recess dimensions must be measured correctly and the power socket must be in the correct position and easily accessible.
When planning the recess, the top and carcass walls should line up flush with the appliance at a depth of at least 102 mm from the outside edge and be made from material at least 16 mm thick. Because parts of the recess are visible when the door is opened, a designed finish matching the kitchen is recommended.
Door panels and plinth
The EGN 9671 is designed to be fitted with overlay or inset door panels. For overlay installation, unit depth is 635 mm; for inset installation it is 635 mm plus the thickness of the custom panel. Panel thickness must be between 16 mm and 30 mm and door panel weight must not exceed 40 kg for this model. Other panel materials (for example wood) up to 30 mm thickness may be used if the maximum panel weight is not exceeded.
Monolith appliances are ventilated entirely via the plinth panel. Door panels must close at least 102 mm above the floor and the grille in the plinth panel must not be obstructed. Spacers included in the scope of supply must be fitted to the appliance and door to separate warm outgoing air from incoming fresh air. Liebherr offers stainless steel plinth panels 102 mm high in widths from 45.7 cm to 182.8 cm, including 91.4 cm for this model.
Adjustable feet and anti-tipping device
The adjustable feet are fully retracted for the minimum appliance height. Once positioned in the recess, the appliance is raised from the front using the adjustable feet so that it contacts the anti-tipping device, which must be secured to the wall or floor. To achieve the minimum plinth panel height of 102 mm, the adjustable feet must be raised by 6 to 8 mm; they can be raised by a maximum of 19 mm if a higher plinth panel is used. Installations directly behind the appliance are not possible.
Door spacing and opening angles
The appliance is supplied with a door opening angle of 115°. A 90° door opening limiter is included and can be installed in the hinge. To prevent the door and handle from colliding with adjacent walls or kitchen elements, a minimum spacing of 76 mm must be provided when the door opening is limited to 90°.
For Side-by-Side installations, if the distance between appliances is less than 102 mm, a Side-by-Side set with sidewall heater, brackets and decorative trim is required. To ensure that doors and handles do not collide when opening towards each other, a minimum spacing of 154 mm is required when a 90° opening limiter is used.
Side-by-Side and individual installation
Monolith appliances can be installed individually as stand-alone units with hinge on the left or right, or Side-by-Side with other Liebherr refrigerators, freezers or wine cabinets. A Side-by-Side set is necessary where the spacing between units is less than 102 mm. When installed Side-by-Side in separate units, a dividing wall with a minimum thickness of 16 mm is required; if door collisions are to be avoided when opening towards the centre with a 90° limiter, a minimum spacing of 154 mm is needed.
Electrical safety
The appliance must be operated using alternating current only. The permitted voltage and frequency for the country (220–240 V~) must be observed. Power sockets must be earthed, electrically protected and must not be located behind the appliance; they must remain easily accessible so the appliance can be disconnected from the mains if necessary. A separate circuit is recommended to prevent defrosting or food spoilage due to failures caused by other appliances.
The appliance must not be connected to unearthed power sockets, extension cables, multi-sockets or inverters. Using inappropriate connections may create a risk of severe injury, fatal electric shock, overheating or fire.
Water connection and IceMaker use
The IceMaker must be connected to a mains water supply via the supplied hose only. Water pressure must be between 2.8 and 6.2 bar. A shut-off valve must be installed between the hose line and the mains water supply so that the water supply can be stopped if necessary; it must not be installed behind the appliance. Connection to the water supply must be carried out by a trained and licensed plumber, and the water quality must comply with regional drinking water regulations.
The IceMaker is intended solely for producing ice cubes in normal household quantities with suitable water. All devices and systems used to supply water must meet applicable regional provisions. Appliances with IceMaker have a water filter located in the front section of the base, which must be replaced regularly. The InfinitySwipe control can provide an alarm reminder to replace the water filter.
Water connection work must not be performed while the appliance is connected to an electrical socket. All repairs and work on the IceMaker must only be undertaken by customer service or trained individuals. The manufacturer assumes no responsibility for damage caused by devices or pipes located between the solenoid valve and the water supply.
Ambient temperatures and climate class
Monolith refrigerators and freezers, including this freezer, have climate class SN–T and are designed for operation within an ambient temperature range of 10 °C to 43 °C. Operating the appliance outside of the specified ambient temperature range is not permitted. The appliance is intended for refrigerating, freezing and storing food and for making ice.
Start-up
To prevent potential damage, the appliance should be left to stand for one hour at the installation location before switching on, so that fluids in the coolant and lubrication system can be distributed evenly.
