Undermount Sink

Undermount sinks are fixed to the underside of the worktop rather than sitting in it, leaving the worktop surface running seamlessly to the edge of the bowl opening with no rim or lip. The result is the cleanest possible worktop aesthetic and, practically, the ability to sweep food and water directly from the worktop surface into the sink.

Undermount installation requires a solid worktop material — stone, solid surface, or corian — that can support the weight of the sink and can be cleanly cut to expose the bowl opening. Laminate worktops are not suitable for undermount installation. The bond between sink and worktop must be sealed carefully to prevent water ingress into the cabinet below.
