Proper ventilation is essential for efficient cooling performance, low energy consumption and to help maximise the lifespan of the minibar. Heat generated at the condenser fins on the back must be transferred to the ambient air via sufficient airflow.

Basic positioning

• Place the minibar on a surface that is level in both directions.
• Ensure a minimum clearance of 20 mm between the cooling unit at the rear and the furniture or wall for this type of fridge.
• Do not position the fridge in direct sunlight, next to a heating radiator, window or curtains.
• The mains plug or socket must remain freely accessible after installation.

Ventilation for built‑in installation

For efficient operation when integrated into furniture, there must be a free circulation of air around the cooling unit arranged in a chimney‑like flow of air.

• Provide at least a 200 cm² free air inlet for cool air to enter below the unit.
• Provide at least a 200 cm² free air outlet for warm air to escape above the unit.
• The air inlet can be created using a cut‑out, series of slots, a grill or an arched opening in the toe kick.
• At the rear, leave a minimum 20 mm distance between the cooling unit and the furniture wall.
• Cut an opening in the back of the furniture, where possible, to maximise airflow.
• Air passing through the ventilation duct must not be pre‑heated by any external heat source.
• Ventilation grills, if used, should offer free openings of at least 200 cm² for incoming and outgoing air.
• Arrange the air inlet below and the air outlet above the minibar; side ventilation should be avoided.
• The outflow air vent must discharge into free space in the room, not into an enclosed void such as a cupboard or ceiling void.
• Never cover ventilation grills or slots.

Cavity sizing guideline

As a guideline for built‑in Dometic fridges, consider adding 15 mm to the product height, 30 mm to the width and 20 mm to the depth to determine the cavity dimensions, in conjunction with ventilation requirements.
