Proper ventilation and installation are essential to maintain cooling performance, minimise energy consumption and extend the lifespan of the minibar. Heat generated at the condenser fins on the back of the unit must be transferred with sufficient airflow to the ambient air.
General positioning
- Place the minibar on a stable surface that is level in both directions.
- Do not place the fridge in direct sunlight, or next to a heating radiator, window or curtains.
- The mains plug/socket must be freely accessible once the fridge has been installed.
- The refrigerator must be level in both directions.
Clearances and cavity sizing
- Leave at least 20 mm clearance between the cooling unit at the rear and the furniture wall.
- For built‑in fridges as a guideline, add 15 mm to product height, 30 mm to width and 20 mm to depth to calculate cavity dimensions.
- The ventilation duct must at least measure 105 mm × the width of the refrigerator.
- Only the entire cooling unit should project into the ventilation duct.
- Place the fridge approximately 10 mm inside the furniture door, ensuring dimensions conform with ventilation requirements.
Ventilation requirements
Ventilation is critical for correct operation. There must be free circulation of air around the cooling unit to remove heat and prevent reduced cooling performance and increased energy consumption.
- Provide at least a 200 cm² free air inlet for cool air to enter.
- Provide at least a 200 cm² free air outlet for warm air to escape into the room.
- The air inlet should be positioned below the unit and the air outlet above, creating a chimney‑like flow of air.
- Side ventilation must be avoided; do not place inlet or outlet vents on the sides.
- At the rear of the fridge, leave a minimum 20 mm distance between the cooling unit and furniture wall.
- It is advised to cut a hole in the back of the furniture to maximise airflow.
- Ventilation grills, if used, must have openings of at least 200 cm² each for this minibar type.
- Air passing through the duct must not be preheated by any source of heat.
- The outflow air vent must exit into free space in the room and must not vent into an enclosed space such as a cupboard, case good or ceiling void.
- Never cover ventilation grills or slots.
Inlet vent options
The required air inlet can be created in several ways, such as:
- A cut‑out in the toe kick.
- A series of slots in the toe kick.
- A grill in the toe kick.
- An arched opening in the toe kick.
Important warranty note
Product warranty is only valid if the minibar is installed as described in the installation manual and in accordance with all instructions, guidelines and warnings. Failure to follow these may result in injury, damage to the product or damage to surrounding property.
