Installation space and recess requirements
The floor must be level, even, rigid and capable of bearing the weight of the appliance plus approximately 218 kg to 544 kg of food, depending on model. The floor in the installation area must be at the same height as the rest of the room and must allow ventilation openings to remain clear. Recess dimensions must be measured correctly and the power socket located in the correct position. Appliance height including packaging and pallet is 2285 mm for models including ECBNei 9770.
Monolith appliances are designed for flush installation in units with a depth of 635 mm using stainless steel panels or customer–specific panels. The depth of the appliances is 610 mm, allowing installation in units of standard European depth 610 mm or deeper cut–outs of 635 mm. The top and carcass walls must line up flush with the appliance at a depth of at least 102 mm from the outside edge and be at least 16 mm thick. The visible recess interior should match the surrounding unit surfaces with a minimum depth of 76 mm.
The scope of supply includes a decorative trim for covering the gap between the appliance and side walls of the fitted unit. When using custom panels, their weight must not exceed the maximum permitted for the door hinge. Other wood materials up to 25 mm thick may be used if the allowed panel weight is not exceeded.
Door panels and plinth
For inset installation, panel thickness must be at least 16 mm (maximum 25 mm). For the refrigerator compartment door, maximum panel weight is 22 kg; for the freezer compartment door it is 13 kg. Door panel dimensions for inset and overlay installations are specified, with width 756–762 mm and heights 1255 mm and 768 mm depending on the compartment and installation type.
The adjustable feet are fully retracted for the minimum height. The appliance is raised using the adjustable feet from the front until it contacts the anti–tipping device. To achieve a minimal plinth panel height of 102 mm, the adjustable feet must be raised by 6–8 mm; for higher plinths they can be raised by up to 19 mm. The door panels must close at least 102 mm above the floor and the grill in the plinth panel must not be obstructed.
Ventilation requirements
Monolith appliances are ventilated entirely via the plinth panel. Wall spacers/air separators supplied with the appliance must be fitted to separate the warm outgoing air from the fresh incoming air. Liebherr offers an optional 102 mm high stainless steel plinth panel in widths matching individual Monolith models and Side–by–Side combinations from 45.7 cm to 182.8 cm. The plinth panel is assembled using a pre–assembled adhesive joint and its position depth can be varied.
Side–by–Side installation
The appliance may be installed as a stand–alone unit or Side–by–Side with other specified Liebherr refrigerators, freezers or wine cabinets. A Side–by–Side set is required when spacing between installed appliances is less than 102 mm or when units are in separate recesses with dividing walls thinner than 102 mm. When sizing fitted units, the thickness of the door panel and handle must be considered.
To prevent collision with adjacent walls or kitchen elements, a minimum spacing of 76 mm is required for a door opening limited to 90°. In back–to–back door positioning, a minimum spacing of 154 mm must be included. A 90° door opening limiter (included) can be fitted to reduce the standard 115° opening angle.
Electrical and water connection
The appliance must be operated using alternating current within the permitted voltage and frequency. Power sockets must be earthed, electrically protected, not located behind the appliance and easily accessible. A separate circuit is recommended. The appliance must not be connected to unearthed sockets, extension cables, multi–sockets or inverters, due to risks of electric shock, overheating or fire.
Models with InfinitySpring or IceMaker must be connected to a water supply using only the supply hose delivered with the appliance. Water pressure must be between 2.8 and 6.2 bar and the water quality must comply with local drinking water regulations. A shut–off valve must be installed between the hose and mains water supply, not behind the appliance. Connection to the water supply must be undertaken by a trained and licensed plumber. The IceMaker is intended solely for producing ice cubes in normal household quantities using suitable water.
All appliances with InfinitySpring or IceMaker have a water filter located in the front section of the appliance base. The filter must be replaced regularly; an InfinitySwipe alarm reminds the user when replacement is due. All devices and systems supplying water must meet applicable regional provisions.
Ambient temperatures and operation
The appliance is intended for refrigerating, freezing and storing food and for making ice. It is designed to operate within ambient temperature limits corresponding to climate class SN–T (10 °C to 43 °C). It must not be operated outside these ranges to ensure optimal cooling performance.
Secure mounting and safety
An anti–tipping device positioned at the base of the appliance must be secured to the floor or wall to prevent the appliance from tipping over. After positioning the appliance in the recess, the adjustable feet are used to raise it until it contacts the anti–tipping device. Installations behind the appliance are not possible.
Water connection work must not be performed while the appliance is connected to an electrical socket. Repairs and work on the InfinitySpring or IceMaker must only be undertaken by customer service employees or other trained individuals. The manufacturer assumes no responsibility for damage caused by devices or water pipes between the solenoid valve and water supply. Refrigerant circuits are checked for tightness and the appliances meet applicable safety regulations.
