Installation space and recess requirements
The floor must be capable of bearing the weight of the appliance plus approximately 218 kg to 544 kg of food, depending on model net capacity. The surface must be level, even and made of a hard, rigid material, with the floor in the installation area at the same height as the rest of the room. Ventilation openings must remain clear. Recess dimensions at the installation location must be measured correctly and the power socket positioned appropriately. Appliance height including packaging and pallet is 2285 mm.
When planning the recess, top and carcass walls should line up flush with the appliance at a depth of at least 102 mm from the outside edge and be at least 16 mm thick. Because the unit recess is partially visible when the door is opened, the visible areas should match the unit surface and have a minimum depth of 76 mm. The depth of the appliance is 610 mm, allowing installation in standard 610 mm units or deeper 635 mm cut–outs.
Monolith appliances are designed for flush installation in 635 mm deep units with stainless steel panels or customer–specific panels available as accessories. For custom panels, the maximum permitted panel weight and 25 mm maximum thickness must not be exceeded. A decorative trim is supplied to cover the gap between the appliance and unit side walls.
Installations behind the appliance are not possible. The adjustable feet are fully retracted for the minimum height; height is raised by turning the feet from the front so the appliance contacts the anti–tipping device. To achieve a plinth panel height of 102 mm, the feet must be raised by 6–8 mm; for higher plinths, they can be raised by up to 19 mm.
Door panels and Side–by–Side options
The appliance supports inset or overlay door panel installation. Inset installation door panel dimensions include H1 = 1255 mm, H2 = 768 mm, HS = 6 mm, W1 = 451 mm and W2 = 908 mm. Overlay installation uses H1 = 1258 mm (plus panel overlap on top), H2 = 768 mm, HS = 6 mm, W1 = 454 mm (plus exterior overlap) and W2 = 914 mm (plus overlap on both sides). The minimum gap between panels is 4 mm.
All Monolith appliances can be installed as stand–alone units with the hinge on the left or right. A minimum spacing of 76 mm is required to prevent the door and handle from colliding with adjoining walls or kitchen elements when the door opening is limited to 90°. They may also be installed Side–by–Side in a fitted unit or in separate units. If the spacing between appliances is less than 102 mm, a Side–by–Side set is required. In back–to–back configurations or openings to the centre, spacing up to 154 mm may be necessary to avoid collisions, depending on configuration.
Ventilation requirements
Monolith appliances are ventilated entirely via the plinth panel. Door panels must close at least 102 mm above the floor and the grille in the plinth panel must not be obstructed. Wall spacers or air separators supplied with the appliance must be fitted to separate warm outgoing air from incoming fresh air. An optional 102 mm high stainless steel plinth panel is available in widths matching the model and possible Side–by–Side combinations (45.7 cm to 182.8 cm). The plinth panel is assembled by an adhesive joint pre–assembled on the appliance.
Water connection, InfinitySpring and IceMaker
Models fitted with InfinitySpring or IceMaker must be connected to a water supply with pressure between 2.8 and 6.2 bar. Only the supply hose delivered with the appliance may be used. A shut–off valve must be installed between the hose line and mains water supply and must not be located behind the appliance. The water connection must only be undertaken by a trained and licensed plumber, and water quality must comply with regional drinking water regulations.
The IceMaker is intended for producing ice cubes in normal household quantities and must only be used with suitable water. All devices and systems used to supply water must meet local regulations. Appliances with InfinitySpring or IceMaker have a water filter in the front section of the appliance base, which must be replaced regularly. An InfinitySwipe alarm reminds the user when the water filter needs replacing.
Electrical and safety information
The appliance must only be operated using alternating current at the permitted voltage and frequency for the relevant country. Power sockets must be earthed, electrically protected and easily accessible, and must not be located behind the appliance. A separate circuit is recommended to prevent food from spoiling through power failures caused by other appliances.
The appliance must not be connected to unearthed sockets, extension cables, multi–sockets or inverters, due to the risk of electric shock, overheating or fire. Water connection work must not be performed while the appliance is connected to an electrical socket. All repairs and work on the InfinitySpring or IceMaker must only be undertaken by customer service employees or other trained individuals. An anti–tipping device at the base of the appliance must be secured to the floor or wall to prevent tipping.
Ambient temperatures and climate class
The appliance is designed for operation within specific ambient temperature ranges defined by climate class. For refrigerators and freezers the climate class is SN–T, corresponding to ambient temperatures of 10°C to 43°C. It must not be operated outside these temperature ranges. The refrigerant circuits have been checked for tightness and the appliance meets applicable safety regulations.
