Installation and recess requirements
The appliance is designed for flush installation in units with a depth of 635 mm using stainless steel or custom panels. The appliance depth is 610 mm and it can be installed in standard European cut-outs of 610 mm or deeper cut-outs of 635 mm. For inset door panel installation, inset panel dimensions must be used; for overlay installation, door spacing requirements must be observed.
- The floor must support the weight of the appliance plus approximately 218–544 kg of food, depending on model.
- The floor should be level and the appliance must be levelled so that ventilation openings remain clear.
- Recess dimensions must be correctly measured and the power socket located in the correct position.
- Installations behind the appliance are not possible.
- Monolith appliances should only be installed next to Liebherr refrigerators, freezers or wine cabinets when used Side-by-Side.
Adjustable feet are fully retracted at minimum height and are raised from the front to bring the appliance into contact with the anti-tipping device. To achieve a minimal plinth panel height of 102 mm, the feet must be raised by 6–8 mm; they can be raised by up to 19 mm for higher plinth panels.
Door panels and Side-by-Side installation
For the EKB 9471, inset installation dimensions are H = 2029 mm and W = 756 mm, while overlay installation dimensions are H = 2032 mm and W = 762 mm (plus overlapping of the panel). Panel thickness must be between 16 mm (minimum) and 30 mm (maximum), and panel weight must not exceed 35 kg.
- Door panels must close at least 102 mm above the floor to allow ventilation through the plinth.
- The minimum permitted gap between panels is 3 mm.
- For a 90° door opening, a minimum spacing of 76 mm is required to avoid collision with adjoining elements.
- For Side-by-Side installations with spacing less than 102 mm, a dedicated Side-by-Side set with sidewall heater and brackets is required.
Ventilation requirements
Monolith appliances are ventilated entirely via the plinth panel. The grill in the plinth must not be obstructed. Spacers supplied with the appliance must be fitted to separate warm outgoing air from incoming fresh air. Liebherr offers 102 mm high stainless steel plinth panels in various widths as optional accessories.
Electrical safety
- The appliance must only be operated using alternating current.
- Permitted voltage and frequency for the country of use must be observed.
- Power sockets must be earthed, electrically protected, not located behind the appliance and easily accessible.
- A separate circuit is recommended to prevent food spoilage due to failures caused by other appliances.
- Do not use extension cables, multi-sockets or inverters for connection.
The refrigerant circuits have been checked for tightness and the appliance meets applicable safety regulations.
Water connection, InfinitySpring and IceMaker
Models fitted with InfinitySpring or IceMaker must be connected to a water supply with pressure between 2.8 and 6.2 bar. Only the supply hose delivered with the appliance may be used.
- Water connection work must not be performed while the appliance is connected to the electrical socket.
- A shut-off valve must be installed between the hose line and mains water supply and must not be located behind the appliance.
- Connection to the water supply must be carried out by a trained and licensed plumber.
- Water quality must comply with local drinking water regulations.
- The IceMaker is for producing ice cubes in normal household quantities and must only be used with suitable water.
- All work on InfinitySpring or IceMaker must be carried out by customer service or other trained individuals.
All appliances with InfinitySpring or IceMaker include a water filter located in the front section of the base. The water filter must be replaced regularly; an InfinitySwipe alarm indicates when replacement is due.
Ambient temperature and climate class
The appliance is designed for operation within the ambient temperature limits of climate class SN–T, meaning it may be operated between 10 °C and 43 °C in order to achieve optimal cooling performance. It should not be operated outside this range.
Secure mounting
To prevent tipping, the anti-tipping device positioned at the base of the appliance must be secured to the floor or wall. After positioning in the recess, the appliance is raised using the adjustable feet until it comes into contact with the anti-tipping device.
