Installation space and recess requirements
- The floor must be capable of bearing the weight of the appliance plus approximately 218–544 kg of food, depending on model net capacity.
- The surface must be level, even and made of a hard, rigid material, at the same height as the rest of the room, with ventilation openings kept clear.
- Recess dimensions must be correctly measured; the power socket must be in the correct position and easily accessible (not behind the appliance).
- Top and carcass walls must line up flush with the appliance at a depth of at least 102 mm from the outside edge and be at least 16 mm thick.
- The unit recess, visible when the door is opened, should match the unit surface and have a minimum depth of 76 mm.
- Monolith appliances are designed for flush installation in units with a depth of 635 mm using stainless steel or customer-specific panels.
- The Monolith appliance depth of 610 mm allows installation in 610 mm standard European units or deeper 635 mm cut-outs.
- A decorative trim is supplied to cover the gap between the appliance and side walls of the fitted unit.
- Installations behind the appliance are not possible.
- The adjustable feet are fully retracted for the minimum height; raising the feet brings the appliance into contact with the anti-tipping device.
- To achieve a minimal plinth panel height of 102 mm, the adjustable feet must be raised by 6–8 mm; maximum raising is 19 mm.
- The appliance should be left to stand for one hour at the installation location before switching on.
Door panels, spacing and Side-by-Side installation
- Panel thickness must be between 16 mm and 25 mm; if using fronts thinner than 16 mm, shorter screws than those supplied must be used.
- Maximum panel weight for this model is 35 kg.
- For flush installation, door panel dimensions for inset door panels must be used.
- Monolith appliances can be installed as stand-alone units with hinge on left or right; a spacing of at least 76 mm is required from adjoining elements for a 90° door opening.
- For Side-by-Side installation in a fitted unit, a Side-by-Side set is required if spacing between appliances is less than 102 mm.
- For Side-by-Side installation in separate units, if the dividing wall is thinner than 102 mm, a Side-by-Side set is required.
- For back-to-back door positioning or doors opening towards each other, minimum distances of 102 mm or 154 mm apply depending on direction.
- A 90° door opening limiter is included; the door opening angle is 115° as delivered and can be limited to 90° by inserting a peg into the hinge.
- The minimum gap between door panels is 4 mm.
Ventilation requirements
- Monolith appliances are ventilated entirely via the plinth panel; the door panels must close at least 102 mm above the floor.
- The grill in the plinth panel must not be obstructed.
- Wall spacers/air separators supplied with the appliance must be fitted to separate warm outgoing air from incoming fresh air.
- Liebherr provides an optional stainless steel plinth panel 102 mm high, available in widths matching Monolith models and Side-by-Side combinations from 45.7 cm to 182.8 cm.
Water connection and InfinitySpring
- Monolith appliances with InfinitySpring or IceMaker must be connected to a water supply with pressure between 2.8 and 6.2 bar.
- Only the supply hose delivered with the appliance may be used to feed water.
- A shut-off valve must be installed between the hose line and mains water supply and must not be installed behind the appliance.
- Connection to the water supply must only be undertaken by a trained and licensed plumber.
- Water quality must comply with local drinking water regulations; a water softener is recommended for high hardness and a filter if solids such as sand are present.
- All devices and systems supplying water must meet relevant regional provisions.
- A water filter is located in the appliance base and must be replaced regularly; an InfinitySwipe alarm indicates when replacement is due.
- The IceMaker is intended only for producing ice cubes in normal household quantities and must be used only with suitable water.
Electrical safety and ambient conditions
- The appliance must only be operated using alternating current at the permitted voltage and frequency for the relevant country.
- Power sockets must be earthed, electrically protected, not located behind the appliance and easily accessible.
- A separate circuit is recommended to prevent defrosting or food spoilage due to failures caused by other appliances.
- The appliance must not be connected to unearthed power sockets, extension cables, multi-sockets or inverters, due to risks of electric shock, overheating or fire.
- Water connection work must not be performed while the appliance is connected to an electrical socket.
- The appliances are for refrigerating, freezing and storing food and for making ice (if equipped) within their climate class limits.
- Climate class SN–T permits ambient temperatures from 10°C to 43°C; appliances must not be operated outside specified ranges.
- The refrigerant circuits are checked for tightness and appliances meet applicable safety regulations.
Secure mounting
To prevent the appliance from tipping over after installation, the anti-tipping device positioned at the base must be fitted and secured to the floor or wall. Details are provided in the installation instructions under the secure mounting chapter.
Recommended appliance combinations
The appliance should only be installed next to Liebherr refrigerators, freezers or wine cabinets. Monolith models are designed to be set up Side-by-Side, and a Side-by-Side set is necessary when spacing between appliances is less than 102 mm. Installing a Monolith next to a non-Liebherr refrigerator, freezer or wine cabinet may result in condensation or damage.
