Installation space and recess requirements
The floor must be level, even and capable of bearing the weight of the appliance plus approximately 218 kg to 544 kg of food, depending on model. The floor in the installation area must be at the same height as the rest of the room so that ventilation openings remain clear. Recess dimensions must be correctly measured and the power socket located in the correct position.
When planning the recess, the top and carcass walls must line up flush with the appliance at a depth of at least 102 mm from the outside edge and be made of material at least 16 mm thick. Because parts of the recess are visible when the door is opened, matched surfaces and designed carcass finishes are recommended.
Monolith appliances are designed for flush installation in units with a depth of 635 mm using stainless steel panels or customer–specific panels. The appliance depth of 610 mm allows installation in standard 610 mm units or deeper 635 mm cut–outs. For flush installation, door panel dimensions for inset installation must be used. Door spacing requirements must be observed for other installation options.
The appliance height including packaging and pallet is 2285 mm. Before switching on, the appliance should stand for one hour in the installation location so that fluids in the coolant and lubrication system distribute evenly.
Adjustable feet and plinth panel
The adjustable feet are fully retracted for the minimum height stated. After positioning the appliance in the recess, it is raised from the front using the adjustable feet until it contacts the anti–tipping device. To achieve a minimal plinth panel height of 102 mm, the adjustable feet must be raised by 6 to 8 mm; they can be raised by a maximum of 19 mm for higher plinth panels.
Ventilation requirements
The appliance is ventilated entirely via the plinth panel. Door panels must close at least 102 mm above the floor and the plinth grill must not be obstructed. Wall spacers / air separators supplied with the appliance must be fitted to separate warm outgoing air from fresh incoming air.
Liebherr offers an optional 102 mm high stainless steel plinth panel in widths matching Monolith models and Side–by–Side combinations from 45.7 cm to 182.8 cm. The plinth panel is attached by a pre–assembled adhesive joint and its position depth can be varied.
Door spacing and installation options
Monolith appliances can be installed as stand–alone units or Side–by–Side in fitted or separate units. When sizing fitted units, the thickness of the door panel and handle must be taken into account. To prevent doors and handles from colliding with adjacent elements, a minimum spacing of 76 mm is required for a door opening limited to 90°.
When appliances are installed Side–by–Side with spacing less than 102 mm, a Side–by–Side set is required. For back–to–back door positioning, a minimum spacing of 154 mm must be included. If a dividing wall is used between units, it must be at least 16 mm thick; to prevent handle collisions with doors opening the same way, 102 mm thickness is necessary, and 154 mm if doors open towards the centre with a 90° door opening limiter.
The minimum permitted gap between adjacent door panels is 4 mm. The ex–works door opening angle is 115° and can be limited to 90° using the supplied door opening limiter.
Door panel dimensions and weight
For inset installation, H = 2029 mm and W = 908 mm; for overlay installation, H = 2032 mm (plus overlap at the top) and W = 914 mm (plus overlap at the sides). Panel thickness must be between 16 mm and 25 mm and panel weight must not exceed 40 kg. When using fronts thinner than 16 mm, shorter screws than those supplied must be used.
Installations behind the appliance are not possible. The appliance includes a decorative trim to cover the gap between the appliance and unit side walls.
Electrical safety
The appliance must only be operated with alternating current at the permitted voltage and frequency for the country. Power sockets must be earthed, electrically protected and easily accessible; they must not be located behind the appliance. A separate circuit is recommended to avoid food spoilage caused by failures from other appliances.
The appliance must not be connected to unearthed sockets, extension cables, multi–sockets or inverters due to the risk of electric shock, overheating or fire. The refrigerant circuit has been checked for tightness and the appliance complies with applicable safety regulations.
Water connection, InfinitySpring and IceMaker
Monolith appliances fitted with InfinitySpring or IceMaker must be connected to a water supply with pressure between 2.8 and 6.2 bar. Only the supply hose delivered with the appliance may be used. A shut–off valve must be installed between the hose line and mains water supply so the water supply can be stopped if necessary; it must not be installed behind the appliance. Water quality must comply with regional drinking water regulations.
If water hardness is high, a water softener is recommended and a filter must be used if solids such as sand are present. All devices and systems supplying water to the appliance must comply with applicable regional provisions. InfinitySpring and IceMaker repairs or work must only be carried out by customer service or trained individuals. The manufacturer assumes no responsibility for damage caused by devices or pipes between the solenoid valve and water supply.
All appliances with InfinitySpring or IceMaker have a water filter in the front section of the appliance base, which must be replaced regularly. An InfinitySwipe alarm reminds users when replacement is due.
Ambient temperature and use
The appliance is intended for refrigerating and storing food and for making ice if equipped accordingly. It is designed for operation within the ambient temperature limits of climate class SN–T, from 10 °C to 43 °C. It must not be operated outside these ranges.
Secure mounting
An anti–tipping device positioned at the base of the appliance must be secured to the floor or wall to prevent the appliance from tipping over after installation. The appliance should only be installed next to Liebherr refrigerators, freezers or wine cabinets; installing it next to appliances from other manufacturers may cause condensation or damage.
